Hey there friends. Today seems just about as good of a day as any to chat about doctors visits. If you are anything like me, you dread them. The last appointment I was at with both girls ended with Elliana crushing crayons with her feet and the doctor saying, “you’ve got a sprightly one there.” Yes ma’am, I sure do. So needless to say when I found out SSM Health in our Madison, Wi area has started a Virtual Visit program in our area, I was ecstatic.
I know that the virtual visits will not replace all doctors visits (darn), but how amazing is it to have the option if we need it.
SSM Health Virtual Visits are a benefit for all parents. I love that no insurance is needed and the cost is only $25, which is WAY less than my co-pay. You bet if I have a cold, allergies, or a sinus infection I will be using the SSM Health Virtual Visit over my normal clinic. To be honest, I was a little leary about pediatric care through a virtual visit. However, the more I investigated and learned, the more excited I became for the service. I would absolutely feel comfortable using a virtual visit for diaper rash or any rash, pink eye, hand foot and mouth, or if we get an unfortunate breakout of head lice.
Virtual Visits are very simple to navigate. All you need to do is head to the SSM HEALTH Virtual Visits website and click on START A VIRTUAL VISIT. You will be directed to a dynamic questionnaire based on questions you would be asked during an in-clinic visit. During normal business hours, you will receive a phone call from an SSM Health care provider within about 15 minutes from completing your questionnaire. Need a prescription? No worries. Your provider will send the prescription to your local pharmacy for easy pick up. I am not sure if it can get any easier than that.
Parenting can be a wild ride. We all need a little help every once in a while. I am so glad that SSM Health has come to our rescue. Whether I am sick and can’t make it into the doctor because, well I have three kids and no daycare, or one of my three little snackers is sick and there’s no way I’m taking the whole brood in, I am using SSM Health Virtual Visits.
