Spaghetti is a simple staple in our house. I can whip it up in no time or make it ahead of time depending on our need for the night. With a busy schedule of activities, it’s nice to have a nice and easy go to meal in my back pocket.
Ingredients
- Whole Wheat Spaghetti Noodles
- 1 Can or Jar of your favorite Spaghetti Sauce ( I like Hunts Garden Vegetable)
- 1 lb of your meat of choice. I usually use ground turkey meat
- 1 bag of mixed vegetables. I like Italian blend.
- Seasonings.
- 1 Tablespoon Garlic – I use the jarred garlic in olive oil
- 1 Tablespoon Onions – I used dried flakes – so much easier
- Italian Seasoning – to taste
- Pepper- to taste
Directions
Start by browning the meat. When meat is just about brown, add in garlic and onions. Once the meat is fully browned, season with Italian Seasoning and pepper to taste. Start out slow, you can always add more. Add your spaghetti sauce and bring to a boil. Once it is at a boil, turn the heat down and let simmer uncovered for 15 minutes. Stir, taste and add seasoning as needed. Sauce can be served at this point or cover and let simmer as long as you wish. Stir occasionally.
15 minutes before you are ready to serve your meal, cook the spaghetti noodles. After you have started the noodles, add your frozen veggie mix into the sauce. Turn the heat up, just a little and cook until the veggies are soft.
*** It’s very important to add the veggies just before serving or else they will get too soft and soggy.
Serve and enjoy!
