They say, “You are never closer to your baby than when he/she is growing inside you.” As I watch my three kids grow, it is even more evident how each day they become a little more independent and spunky. I love having the opportunity to foster their growth and learning each day. For me, every day I spend with my babies is a memory in the making. Soaking in each and every snuggle and hug while watching my babies grow and turn into little people with big personalities is all I could ask for.
My story of becoming a Stay at Home Mom (SAHM) begins with the birth of my son. After giving birth, I was blessed with summer vacation followed by 12 weeks of maternity leave! Yahoo! The time I spent with him was priceless. Memories were made and everlasting bonds were forged. I dreaded the days of returning to work. But as many moms do, I reluctantly returned to the grind. Although, my husband and I absolutely loved our daycare provider, I dreaded leaving my son each day.
After getting settled back into the hustle and bustle of working full-time and momming, I was blessed to be able to move to a part-time position, which was AMAZING. I was able to work a few hours a day and still be home with my little cherub for a large majority of the time. Then, before I knew it, I was pregnant with baby number two. This is when I decided that it was time for me to take the leap and stay home full-time.
My husband and I weighed many factors to make this decision, but ultimately it was the best decision we could have made for our family. If you are struggling to take the leap, take a look at some of my reasons why staying home is right for me and my family.
Why Do I Stay Home
- I want to be home to raise my kids.
- The cost of daycare for my 3 kids is more than what I would have made working part-time.
- Money Savings
- no daycare costs
- no work wardrobe
- less gas money
- no daily coffee (I miss this one)
- I get to make memories every day with my kids

Before making your decision, write down your budget, subtract out what you think you may save by staying home, and see if it is feasible. Best of luck! You can do anything you put your mind to. Whether it is being a working mom or a stay at home mom, I know you will rock it!
Mom on, Mommy!
